Posti will issue a stamp that celebrates the Lions’ victory in the Ice Hockey World Championships in Switzerland. The first batch of the stamp will be available in Posti’s online store on Wednesday, June 17. The stamps will be available at retail locations in July.

The photo in the stamp depicts Konsta Helenius, who is celebrating the 1–0 winning overtime goal in the final match between Finland and Switzerland together with other players. The news image selected for the stamp was taken by Roni Rekomaa from Lehtikuva. Klaus Welp was responsible for the graphic design of the stamp.

”The Lions' success in the World Championships was great news for Finns. The photo in the stamp also conveys the players’ genuine joy right after the winning goal. With the stamp, we wish to celebrate the Lions' achievement and, at the same time, honor the long-term work behind the success,” says Sami Määttä, who is in charge of domestic letter services at Posti.

Several ice hockey-themed stamps have been created before, such as the self-portrait stamp of Mikael Granlund from the 2011 World Championship team.

”The stamp is a big tribute to the entire team. At the same time, it's great that the World Championship can delight Finns for a long time this way,” says Jere Lehtinen, GM of the National Team.

In connection with the publication of the stamp, Posti will donate EUR 10,000 to the Finkey Foundation, which is part of the Finnish Ice Hockey Association and supports children and young people from low-income families who enjoy ice hockey as a hobby. Posti has cooperated with the Finnish Ice Hockey Association as its partner since 2024.

There will also be a limited 1,000-item special edition of the stamp for the collectors' market, with a gold-foiled miniature sheet in a four-page folder. The special edition of the stamp and the first day cover will be published in July.
